ABC: W for Water Fountain

I took this photo last year at Ayala Center in Cebu City.

Mall is the best place to unwind if you're living in a city, just looking around watching people come and go is indeed a stress free activity.

Pork Humba

One of the menu we've prepared on Xye's 1st Month Birthday was "humba" or braised pork. Hubby and I haven't tried cooking humba before so instead of asking our friend to cook for us, we searched the internet for recipe and cooking instruction and viola! we we're able to prepare a delicious meal.

Thank you Panlasang Pinoy for the recipe. Ciao!

Xye's 1st Month Birthday

Our first born Javen Xyrus celebrated his 1st Month Birthday on December 15, 2010.

As new parent we're so excited to celebrate our baby's 1st month birthday. So we've prepared a small salo-salo and invited our friends over for lunch.

Stress Free Days

Working from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm is indeed very stressful that is why my favorite days are Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays because these are the days I can relax and unwind. I can sleep long hours at home or chit chat and watch movies with Jessie, or just being a couch potato the whole day. Sometimes going to Cagayan de Oro for a weekend shopping, or go out with friends and spend the day at Timoga Swimming Pool. Long weekend (with holidays) are sometimes scheduled for a "couples day out" by traveling to Philippine tourist destinations if the budget permits. Hmmm I need to save for next year's plan.

Have a Happy Thursday Girls!

11 days before Christmas

Eleven days more to go before Christmas Day.

I remember spending Christmas at Zamboanga City. Years back I made it a point to be in my hometown on Christmas Holidays. I love to spend the holidays with my parents, but now they are gone and I having my own family I guess that will never happen again, But nevertheless, I want to live with the tradition  that my parents had started, spending the day and spending love together with our loved ones on the day Jesus Christ was born.

This year's Christmas will be very meaningful to us because a very special gift was given to us, our son our first born. Hubby and I will be spending our first Christmas together with our cute little angel Javen Xyrus.

Tawa Tawa

Dengue cases infest Philippines every year. Young and old maybe infected by dengue fever brought by a kind of mosquito that causes internal hemorrhage even to a point it causes death. Experts have not come up of medicine for the said disease yet. But in the Philippines, a kind of weed called tawa tawa or gatas gatas is said to be an effective cure of dengue. Many have attested the effectiveness of the said plant, patient who have tried it and were eventually cured.
According to, tawa-tawa does not fight dengue virus. instead, it only promotes the development of blood platelets and softens the effect of the dengue virus. Tawa-tawa has natural enzymes within that stabilize the membranes of the blood vessels, preventing internal bleeding.

A photo of actual tawa tawa weed that I took near our office.

So guys just in case you'll visit Iligan City try visit a small restaurant along Aguinaldo St. and try their menu, I'm sure you'll like it.

And also try their sweet potato salad too.

at 36th Week

After watching Pinoy Icon Manny Pacquiao beaten Antonio Margarito on November 14, 2010 around 3:30PM, I’ve felt a gush of fluid came out from my private part. I rushed to the toilet thinking that I just want to relieve myself. I’ve checked my underwear and saw blood stain. I called my OB and told her my condition, she told me to go to the nearest hospital and admit myself. I tidied up, readied my things (I wasn’t able to prepare yet because I still have 2-4 weeks before my due), and hurried to the hospital. Around 5PM I was at Emergency Room of Mercy Community Hospital, they’ve checked my baby’s heartbeats, took my blood pressure, attached dextrose and transferred me to a private room.

I was not ready to give birth yet because I'm still on my 36th week and my expected due is still on December 9, 2010. But things just happened.

8:00PM - Doc Lila my OB, arrived and did an internal examination (IE) and told me that my cervix has not dilated yet. So we have to wait for labor pain to kick-in if not I had to be induced.

12:00MN – Labor finally kicks in. I felt the pain somewhere at my belly with 15-20 seconds duration every 5min interval. Sleepless hours had started.

3:00AM (November 15, 2010) – I felt the pain crawling from the belly part to my back waist. Nurses on duty from time to time came in to check my baby’s vital. I had another IE from the Resident Doctor, with cervix opening up to 3cm.

5:00AM – More pain. Hubby had to pat my back waist just to ease the pain. It helps a little though, but I still felt like crying and I’ve bounced left and right at my bed. Even though I really want to deliver normally not just because it’s cheaper compare to CS but because of the healing period afterwards, I told my husband that if I can’t bear the pain just let me deliver thru c-section no matter what.
5:45AM – Another visit from nurses on duty, this time I told them I felt like my waist is breaking, I can feel my baby moving downwards, looks like he wanted to push himself out. The resident doctor came in for another IE, this time I’m 6cm dilated.

6:45AM – I was transferred to labor room to prepare myself for the delivery. Hubby came in with me, supporting me all the way. Pain got worse every minute, I felt like I wanted to push more.

8:15AM – Doc Lila had arrived, another IE and she felt baby Javen’s head already at the cervix entrance, I was rushed to the delivery room then.

8:30AM and counting – At the delivery room, I had my first and second attempt but not so successful I’ve run out of breathe. On my 3rd attempt this time I took a very deep breath and pushed hard until I finally heard baby Javen’s first cry. Javen Xyrus came out and joined us in this wonderful world at 8:49AM, November 15, 2010.

After 8 hours and 49 minutes the drama of pain and hardship has finally ended. And no matter how painful it was, the hardship had turned into joy the moment I had our baby in my arms. I felt that everything that I have undergone is just like magic.

GT: Ladies Apparels

I was on a blog holiday again, being busy at work is not my excuse for my absence. This time I was busy attending to our new member of the family. I've given birth to a healthy little angel on November 15, 2010. Anyways more about that on my next post. (hope I can write about it soon...) This time let's do some girl talk.

Best corner to shop is somewhere we're girls love to fit every beautiful dress they see hanging on the ladies apparel section plus trying on some stylish accessories to go along with it. In my case, I love hanging around the ladies section but I usually picks up jeans and ladies tee shirts/blouses for my regular get-up and some slacks and ladies blouses to wear at work. Accessories? hmmm sometimes I pick some but usually I make my own accessories the usual bracelets and earrings using beads and crystals.

By January next year I need to go shopping again, this time hunting for new clothes, new slacks to pair with our new office uniform (shirt jacks) since my old clothes does not fit anymore after gaining so much weight during my pregnancy.

That's it Girlies. Thanks for dropping by... Have a Nice Day!

35 Weeks and Counting

Wow! My tummy seems to become heavier day by day. I'm on my 35th week now and our baby boy is running out of room inside my uterus, he'd gained approximately 3lbs after 2 weeks based on my OB's measurement last Saturday which makes him more or less 6 lbs as of today. Heavy indeed right?

I feel anxious and excited everyday waiting for the day he'll finally come out. I hope and always pray for a safe delivery.

I hope you do pray for me too. wink*

Sweet Pomelo From Davao

Engineering's service driver dropped by at the apartment Saturday afternoon carrying with him seven pieces sweet pomelo directly from Davao City. My best friend Jefer  asked him to send the said fruits for me. Thanks thanks mwah!

What is a Pomelo? Pomelo is a citrus fruit commonly found in Southeast Asia, it is also known as suha in the Philippines. Usually with pale green to yellow skin when ripe and white sweet flesh. But for Davao's grown pomelo it has pinkish very sweet juicy flesh.

Pomelo is said to be rich in vitamin C, potassium, protein, and carbohydrate, it is also a best source of fibre. When eaten regularly, it can reduce cholesterol in the blood, avoid heart disease and reduce fat in the body.

Pomelo is sure good for the health.

Have a Happy Monday Everyone!

GT: Go Grocery

I'm alive again after more than two weeks of blog idle. There are so many activities  that had happened the last 2 weeks but I wasn't able to find time to blog about it. Aside from that my main source of income which is my day job need more of my time now because I need to turn over my works to my colleague before going to  a 2-month work leave that will start at the end of November.

Anyway, I decided to return in the blog world on a beautiful Thursday (I have less work now, wink*) so that I can join another conversation on Girl's Talk.

This month's topic is about shopping, and I love shopping (if only I have extra extra money). But for Today's discussion we'll talk about picking up something at the Grocery Aisle. Every weekend either Saturday or Sunday hubby and I does our grocery specifically at Gaisano Supermarket. We always have a cart full of groceries from detergent soap, fabric conditioner, shampoo, hair conditioner, toothpaste, body soap, tissue, canned  goods, juices, soy sauce, vinegar, cooking oil to vegetables, meat, fish and a lot lot more. By next month our grocery cart will include baby stuffs like diapers and milk.

Well, that's my grocery list every weekend, sorry I wasn't able to take photos.

Have a Nice Day Girlies!

Super Me on a Busy Thursday

I arrived at 7:15AM this morning here at the office to attend the early mass in celebration of the inauguration of our new office building. We had a half day program and full of activities and of course free lunch after. But after the clock strikes 1PM, I have to be back on my desk and prepared my daily reports that some were supposedly been done this morning and plus my work scheduled this afternoon. That means I had to double time to finish it just in time, including the intervening works that were given to me just a while ago. Nevertheless, the "super me" was able to finish all of it with few minutes left to do this post and before the clock strikes 5PM.

Time to say goodbye for now, sorry for skipping my Thursday meme today. Mwah!

ABC: Nail Care

Nail care is an essential regimen when it comes to personal grooming. Supposed you had a perfect hair and make-up with beautiful clothes to match with it, however your nails are dirty and out of shape how would you think you will look like then? Awful isn't it? So to make your look perfect never forget to take care of your nails too.

Take care of your nails by visiting your favorite salons and have it manicured and a little massage that goes along with it will definitely make your day.

Nails are made of keratin. therefore the simplest way to nail care is through a balanced diet. By eating the right kind of foods can bring a healthy glow in your nails. Also increase the intake of calcium, iron, potassium and Vitamin B will make your nails stronger and perfect.

This is my ABC on a beautiful Wednesday.

Christmas Around the Corner

Hubby and I went to Gaisano Mall yesterday for our payday grocery, and as usual I can already smell the freshness of Christmas Spirit.

Standing tall at the Men's Department entrance is a yellow-themed Christmas Tree. It is so attractive to me maybe because my favorite color is yellow. Hmmm Should I buy a tall Christmas tree? (Ooopps I don't think so, walang space sa bahay hehe.)

This is my Mellow Yellow on a a beautiful typhoon free Monday in Mindanao.

Teriyaki Rice

Friends and I went on a food hunt near, Redemptorist Church in Iligan City. We've heard there is a not so newly opened small restaurant and is serving Mongolian dishes. So we dropped by and tried their foods.

We left the place carrying with us a very big disappointed. The only food that tasted good was their Beef Teriyaki with rice, the rest are awful.

That was our first and last food adventure on that place. sigh! :(

Alamat ng Gubat

Genelyn my officemate and friend from Head Office gave me a Filipino authored book as a birthday present. The 4th book written by a Filipino contemporary author Bob Ong entitled Alamat ng Gubat (Legend of the Forest).

I remember reading this book at Manila Domestic Airport while waiting for my flight to Cagayan de Oro and I can't help but laugh and smile while reading. Everyone who have seen me laughing alone probably thought I was out of my mind. But who cares as long as I enjoyed reading it and had my boring waiting time spent in a different way. (lol)
The story is about a little crab named "Tong" who traveled to the forest looking for a banana heart to cure his sickly father, the king of the sea. On his way to the forest he met friends namely Pagong (tortoise), Kuneho (rabbit) and Aso (wild dog) that helped him on his quest. But the journey wouldn't be as challenging if there are no villains. So the villains of the story that made Tong's life difficult are Buwaya (crocodile), Daga (rat), Leon (lion), Maya (sparrow) and Katang (also a crab and Tong's brother).

Will Tong ever get the banana heart without killing the whole forest?

Filipino love happy ending so in the end Tong eventually got the banana heart with the help of an annoying but wise monkey. He has also not harmed the forest but saved it and made it a better place to live in.

Hmmm.. interesting right? hope you can read it too.. hehe

ABC: Man at Work

It's a beautiful Wednesday Today and let us play another round of ABC. Our letter for today is "M". M for Man at Work.

I took this photo months ago while a welder was working at our newly constructed Office Building. I was supposed to submit this as an entry for a photography contest here in the city but sad to say I chose another photo instead and I was not lucky enough to win. Maybe I still need more practice and improve my perspective. Hope soon I'll get back on my feet and shoot more photos again.

Gaining Weight Huh!

After 60 days on maternity leave, my officemate finally came back to work. I can't help but be jealous of how easy for her to lose weight after her pregnancy. Maybe because she did not gain more height during her pregnancy. But unlike me on my seventh month, I gained more pounds, my weight gain is way more than what is expected. I'm due to deliver on December 9, 2010, could be 1 week earlier or 1 week later, who knows, but I'm hoping to deliver on the exact date, I pray for my baby's safety.

Though I gained so much weight, but it seems that I consumed all the nutrients that I have taken in, because according to my OB the baby has not gained his needed fetal weight at his age. So I was advise to eat more, more sweets and carbohydrates so that my little angel will improve his weight.

As a mother to be I'll do anything what my OB says for the safety of my little angel. No matter how much weight I still have to gain, it's okey for me. Anyway I'll have more time to shed it off after giving birth.

Black Forest Cake

Care to try this "Black Forest Cake"?  You should, like what Nice and I did when we had  our lunch at Delecta Restaurant in Iligan City. The cake tasted so good like how pretty it looked. But when the bill came in we didn't expect to pay P80.00 for a slice cake. Hmmm quite expensive...

The Promise

I used to be a bookworm on my student days, early part of my working  career were I was a new girl in Iligan City with no friends, no relatives to talk to, no television since I can't afford one yet.  Each week I've rented 2 to 3 novels from a book rental stall (I can't afford to buy books too) and read it after work. That time my only best friends are novels, love stories. Until, I met new friends, badminton buddies, and I was able to buy a television set and dvd player, computer and internet, I was pulled out from my sanctuary and completely forgotten about reading novels.

The first book that I've read on my student days was written by Danielle Steel and that made me cry was "The Promise", it was one heck of a novel, I fell in love  with Danielle instantly.

The story was about a wealthy heir Michael who fell in love with a penniless artist Nancy even against his mother's will, plan on getting married and living a life of happiness together until a tragic accident seperates them. Due to a vengeful mother and the helplessness of an injured woman, the two are kept seperate for years and they both start new lives and find new loves, until a twist of fate and a once in a lifetime miracle allows them to reunite and remember the promise they made to one another long ago."

The book was worth reading again. Hmmmm I'm thinking of buying Danielle Steel's books to collect, hmmm isip-isip pag may mura sa "Booksale".

L for Lights

Dah I've missed last Wednesday ABC game because I was on a holiday mode. I have joined the people of Iligan City in the celebration of the feast of the City Patron Saint "St. Michael the Archangel".That means I had a 1 week blog holiday too.

So Today, I'm playing for letter "L". L for Lights. I remember taking this photo in one of the restaurants in Zamboanga City. Lights are attached on beautifully formed old tree roots and were hanged on the ceiling of the resto perfect theme for a grilled resto bar.

More Letter L at ABC Wedensday.

Missing Kasadya Today

You don't want to miss the main activity of Iligan's Diyandi Festival 2010 that is scheduled for today, the Kasadya Streetdancing and Merrymaking. Participants from different schools and nearby provinces will dominate the streets today to show their gleeful dance moves and colorful costumes. The contingents will have their final dance showdown at Iligan Amphitheater for final judging. The winners will definitely bring home with them lots and lots of prizes.
I was supposed to be at the venue too to witness the event and take colorful photos and eventually join the photography contest for this year, but I just can't risk myself because I'm bulgy pregnant. Maybe next year I'll be on the streets again ready to take those happy faces and wonderful dancing performances.

In the meantime I'm sharing to you two of my shots taken last year's Kasadya.

I sure do missed the fun today. This is my Mellow Yellow Monday. Have a Nice Day!
