Finally It's Raining

After many days of waiting, finally the sky opened up and started pouring heavy rains here in Mindanao, Philippines. I can see right in front of my desk here in the office how the rain with moderate wind sways the plants outside and how the sky darkened the environment because of heavy gray clouds, oh I can see fogs too.

As we all know Philippines is experiencing El NiƱo phenomenon. We're all praying that it will rain from time to time to alleviate our power crisis here in the South because 40-50% of our power are sourced out from hydro electric power plants.

We hope that this rain that we have today will help increase the water elevation of Lanao Lake to a level that can generate more power that will arrest the power shortage in Mindanao.

Kasadya - A Streetdancing Competition

Let's play another ABC. Our letter for today is "K" and K is for Kasadya a streetdancing competition held every September here in Iligan City to celebrate the feast of St. Michael the
Archangel.

Last year, I was able to passed through in between so many spectators to shoot some scene in this much awaited event of the year. I was hoping to take the colorful custumes, smiles of the dancers and their expression while doing their routine and I successfully did.

I hope I can take more photos on the next Kasadya, that would be on September this year. ciao!

Blazing Sunset

We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them.

This is one of the sunset shot that I took at Initao Nature Park. A blazing sun setting at the horizon.

Pizza at Kylas

After one of our badminton session, the group decided to hangout for a while before going home. That night the group decided to change venue (because we usually hangout at Paeng's Resto) and went to Kyla's instead. The guys had a couple of beer while the gals had lemonade and pizza.

Looks great huh! and in fairness it does taste good.

Happy Food Trip Friday!

Red Juicy Watermelon

It is summer once again and during this sun stricken season of the year juicy watermelons are quite abundant. This tasty thirst quenching fruit offers beneficial health benefits like;

1. Watermelon is rich in potent carotene antioxidant called lycopene that is found most in red colored fruits. Studies show that lycopene reduces the risk of prostate cancer and heart disease. And watermelon is the only fruit that contains higher concentration of lycopene that any other fresh fruit or vegetable.

2. Rich in B vitamins necessary for energy production. A very good source of vitamin B6 and B1. Studied shows that Vitamin B6 promotes chemicals in the brain that help people cope with anxiety and panic.

3. Not only oranges are rich in vitamin C, watermelons too. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and as well as vitamin A.

4. A good source of potassium. Magnesium and thiamin, which protect our body from many diseases.

5. And lastly, watermelon is a fat free energy booster red fruit.

These are some of the health benefits of watermelon that I have read in the web that are worth sharing.

Happy Ruby Tuesday!

We Grieve for our Friend's Lost

Early this morning our friend Nice called up to inform us that our friend Mia's newborn child has left us already. The little 6.5lbs beautiful baby boy was born via cesarean on Friday morning March 19, 2010. His voice was the most beautiful sound that his mother had ever heard but minutes later he stopped crying and was helped to revive his breathing. And it was found out that the baby has a pneumonia on his right lung, he undergo treatment and was attached to a ventilator to help him in his breathing. Yesterday we went to visit them again at the hospital and was informed that his left lung has collapsed due to accumulated fluid. A hose was then attached to his little body to suck the fluid in his left lung and by yesterday afternoon his 4th xray showed that the fluid was already been sucked up. He was under medication but last night almost midnight he finally given up. His heart ceased to pump to support his breathing and left us forever.

We can't explain the pain we felt what more for his parents, Mia who carried the child for nine months.

It was so painful and we grieved too for their lost.
