Homemade Leche Flan

 

 Because I missed my sister-in-law's leche flan, I called and asked her to teach me how to make one. This is her original recipe and lucky me I was able to make two molds last night and it does taste like the original one, beginner's luck I guess.

It's another ABC and my entry for letter "X" is my baby Xyrus. He's our first born and a very special gift from God.

Christmas Cake

Few hours more to go and it's Christmas Day. To celebrate our first Christmas with our son Xyrus, here's one of the menu I'll be placing on our noche buena table, a Christmas inspired cake.

Pork Humba

One of the menu we've prepared on Xye's 1st Month Birthday was "humba" or braised pork. Hubby and I haven't tried cooking humba before so instead of asking our friend to cook for us, we searched the internet for recipe and cooking instruction and viola! we we're able to prepare a delicious meal.

Xye's 1st Month Birthday

Our first born Javen Xyrus celebrated his 1st Month Birthday on December 15, 2010.

As new parent we're so excited to celebrate our baby's 1st month birthday. So we've prepared a small salo-salo and invited our friends over for lunch.

Stress Free Days

Working from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm is indeed very stressful that is why my favorite days are Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays because these are the days I can relax and unwind. I can sleep long hours at home or chit chat and watch movies with Jessie, or just being a couch potato the whole day. Sometimes going to Cagayan de Oro for a weekend shopping, or go out with friends and spend the day at Timoga Swimming Pool. Long weekend (with holidays) are sometimes scheduled for a "couples day out" by traveling to Philippine tourist destinations if the budget permits. Hmmm I need to save for next year's plan.

11 days before Christmas

Eleven days more to go before Christmas Day. 

I remember spending Christmas at Zamboanga City. Years back I made it a point to be in my hometown on Christmas Holidays. I love to spend the holidays with my parents, but now they are gone and I having my own family I guess that will never happen again, But nevertheless, I want to live with the tradition  that my parents had started, spending the day and spending love together with our loved ones on the day Jesus Christ was born.

This year's Christmas will be very meaningful to us because a very special gift was given to us, our son our first born. Hubby and I will be spending our first Christmas together with our cute little angel Javen Xyrus.

Tawa Tawa

Dengue cases infest Philippines every year. Young and old maybe infected by dengue fever brought by a kind of mosquito that causes internal hemorrhage even to a point it causes death. Experts have not come up of medicine for the said disease yet. But in the Philippines, a kind of weed called tawa tawa or gatas gatas is said to be an effective cure of dengue. Many have attested the effectiveness of the said plant, patient who have tried it and were eventually cured. 

According to Answers.com, tawa-tawa does not fight dengue virus. instead, it only promotes the development of blood platelets and softens the effect of the dengue virus. Tawa-tawa has natural enzymes within that stabilize the membranes of the blood vessels, preventing internal bleeding.

Cuddling Moments

To become parents is what we have asked and prayed for and we thanked God Almighty for giving us an opportunity to become one, for giving us our son Javen.

These we're our cuddling loving moments with our first born.

Being parents is something unexplainable.

GT: Eat Out in Iligan City

I'm not really a fan of kare-kare but when I tried the dish at Delecta I started craving for more. Seems that my perspective had change with just one taste of kare-kare from Delecta. So guys just in case you'll visit Iligan City try visit a small restaurant along Aguinaldo St. and try their menu, I'm sure you'll like it. 

And also try their sweet potato salad too.
