Pink Havaianas

My first time to join Pink Fridays, I'm not so sure if I can keep up with this meme because I only have few things that are pink in color. Anyways, come what may.

My first share is my pink havaianas bought in 2009 during the "Make Your Own Havaianas" event in Cagayan de Oro City.

Always inside the car, as a change footwear in case it rain.

Thursday..Thursday at the Office

Today, I believe was the busiest office day for me this year. My section head is on leave until tomorrow, one of my colleague was also on leave for two days (thank God he'll be reporting tomorrow) and the other one is on travel until Monday. That means in our four-man section or group I was left alone as caretaker of our section to submit and make our daily reports, to submit weekly reports scheduled for Thursdays and to comply whatever data the head office might need, etc. etc.

To be able to do all the tasks easily I set my 2 office mates' computers in remote mode so that I can access it in my pc. It's an extra effort hopping from one computer to another.  With that, I was able to survive the day and finished all my tasks without leaving my own desk.

For now I needed some sleep and regain my strength, because tomorrow is another day, and Friday is also one of the busiest day of the week.

I'll do my blog hop tomorrow. Goodnight!

Two Small White Spots on Lower Gum

This morning I checked my baby's mouth and I've seen 2 small white spot on his lower gum. I guess his 2 tiny bottom teeth want to say hello to the outside world.

So far these are what I have observed lately, drooling, letting out his tougue, and biting his lower lip. Are these symptoms of teething?

I need to do some research first and will share to you what I have read later.

I asked hubby to take a snap while I'm trying to open his mouth.

Can you see it?

My Last Song Syndrome

My my.. after the songs that made me fall in love, made me cry and made me laugh here's another one that makes me look like a girl who is out of her mind. (Para akong pirated cd na pabalik-balik ng kanta na puro naman intro or chorus.. hehe) I am currently singing the song and has repeatedly sung it, not the entire the song but the first line or chorus only. lol.

Can you hear it? it's being played

"And I wonder if I
Ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one

I'm all alone
And I need you now
Said I wouldn't call
But I've lost all control
And I need you now"

It's award winning Need You Now by Lady Antebellum.
How about you? what is your LSS today?

K for Keypad

Another round of ABC in a sunny Wednesday morning. I hope rain will spare us this afternoon, because lately rain usually pours in the afternoon here in the southern part of the Philippines.

Anyways, my share for letter "K" is a Keypad. This is my cellphone keypad that I have photographed this morning purposely for ABC Wednesday.

I did a little photoshop tweaking, I hope you like it.

Have a Happy Wednesday!

Choosing Between Combination and Single Shot Vaccines

When we first visited Xye's pediatrician she told us that some of the basic vaccines are available at the barangay health center and it is for free as long us you are willing to fall in line and wait too long for your turn. On the other hand we can avail the combination vaccine that covers 6 diseases in just one injection but much costlier. She gave us an option and let us decide which one we'll choose.

I asked my husband for his decision and he told me following:

1. let's take the combination shots, because at health center Xye might get more than one injection per visit that is too painful for him considering his size. (he only weighs 4.6lbs at birth)

2. we don't have time to bring Xye at the health center that usually scheduled every Wednesday because of work, and lastly,

3. let's be considerate, we're still blessed and has the capacity to pay for our son immunization so let's just give our share to the less fortunate who needed it most".

And with that Xye had his 6 in 1 vaccine at his pediatrician clinic.

Let us know more about vaccines on the next series of posts.

Making Way for Vaccines

Prevention is better than cure. As a new parents, we are constantly concerned about our baby's health and safety, we need to see to it that he'll be prevented and protected from diseases, diseases that are actually caused by viruses and bacterias around us. And by doing that, we had him undergo series of vaccination.

These are the vaccines that he had, including the cost.

at birth
for Hepatitis B (first shot)

December 9, 2010
BCG  @ P400+

December 27, 2010
Infantrix 6 in 1 (first shot for 5 diseases and 2nd shot for Hepatitis B) @ P3000.00/per shot

January 29, 2011
Infantrix 6 in 1 (second shot for 5 diseases and 3rd shot for Hepatitis B) @ P3000.00/per shot

February 26, 2011
Infantrix 5 in 1 (third shot for 5 diseases) @ P2800.00/per shot
RotaTeq Rotavirus Vaccines first dose @ P2,200 per dose

March 26, 2011
RotaTeq Rotavirus Vaccines second dose @ P2,200 per dose

Next Month will be his final dose for Rotavirus vaccine.
Having my son immunized at a private clinic is very costly compared to local health center, but for us our son's health is very important and we'll always try our best to give him what is best for him. And besides local health center don't have combination vaccines hence my son would probably getting more than 1 shot per visit. That's very painful for his part.

Strawberries Anyone?

You'll be thinking about real strawberries right? Well, it's not.

Last Saturday, to pamper my self I had a manicure and pedicure session at one of my favorite salon in the city.

One of the customers had nail-art for her nails. She bragged that her niece had her nails designed with strawberries and it was cute, that is why she asked for the same design. I watched how the salon personnel or should I say artist do the trick and the result was indeed pretty cute.

The gaya-gaya me, was intrigued and wondered how it gonna be in my overly worked out hands/fingers. And the result was quite acceptable I loved it. (mahal eh!) hehehe

Green Monday - Earth Hour

Last week Ms. Mel the beautiful host of Green Monday, encouraged us to post something regarding the March 26, 2011 Earth Hour.An hour lights off is already a big help in saving our Mother Earth.

Earth Hour means turning off everything that uses electricity. Xye usually sleeps at 7 in the evening, by joining the earth hour from 8:30-9:30PM we turned off the air conditioning unit, and Xye's rescuer for 1 hour was his small rechargable fan.

Importance of Vaccines and Immunization

Vaccination or Immunization is a way of creating immunity or resistance to certain diseases by using small amounts of a killed or weakened form of a disease-causing agent or microorganism that causes the particular disease in order to stimulate the production of antibodies to fight off the disease.

Vaccines prevents babies from diseases such as polio, pertussis (whooping cough), diphtheria, measles, rubbela (German measles), mumps, Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) and tetanus that sometimes even causes death. Aside from preventing your child from diseases it also helps prevent diseases to spread out.

Do you know that it is better to spend money by having your child vaccinated compared to actually curing those diseases? Medicines and hospital cost are much costlier than few shots of vaccines.

Prevention is better than cure. Protect your child from virus and bacteria causing diseases. Have him immunized as early as possible.

Fossil Watch

I love watches that is one of my weaknesses. I love looking at them and of course wearing it. I actually own more than 10 watches but none of them exceeds P5000.00  (approximately $100.00) when I bought them, that's my limit and can't go beyond that . If in case I did go beyond, I'll end up not eating lunch for two months.

Yesterday, after I had my fingernails manicured and toenails pedicured I stepped into a newly opened boutique that sells authentic imported ladies accessories. And after going through each glass stand my eyes landed on a stainless stylish fossil watch. Tried it on my wrist, perfect just my style. As expected I went home carrying it with me. lol.

By the way I got it with a P700.00 discount, a good discounted fashion find for me.

Headaches with Word Press

I'd created another blog using wordpress two days ago but until now I can't figure out how to customize my page. I've done some research but after reading, it made me want to give up. Because instead of getting a nice page, I got headache. huh! This stuff is complicated for a dummy in html or programming like me.

Should I give up now?

I think I can reconsider and give it another try if not I rather delete it and continue with blogspot, much easier for me. winkz*

6.850 kilograms

Xye just had his monthly visit to his pediatrician. After a month he now weighs 6.850 kgs equivalent to 15lbs & 2 ounces and 63cm in height, a 2lbs weight and 3cm height increase. Way to go baby!

He also had his second dose of RotaTeq, a vaccine to protect babies against common type of rotavirus that causes severe infant diarrhea.

Xye had a diarrhea before so we accepted the said vaccine to protect him from future virus infection. Last dose will be scheduled next month.

 See you then.

Xye's Physical Growth

The moment I heard Xye’s first cry was my happiest moment, I extended my hand to hold and caress him. But behind my happiness we’re worries because he was so tiny. My worries subsided when the pediatrician told me that all his vitals are normal in spite of the early birth, though he’s small eventually he’ll grow up fast.

Follow me as I monitor Xye’s Physical Growth, but before that let us define what a “Physical Growth” means.

Physical Growth refers to a child’s increase in height, weight and other body changes the occurs when the child matures.  Including milestones, your child growth is the most fascinating development that parents anticipates.

These are the measurements my child had every time we went to his pediatrician.

Age: Newborn
Weight: 4 lbs and 6 oz, Lenght: 43.5 cm, Head Circumference: 30cm

Age: 1 month & 3 days
Weight: 7 lbs and 8 oz, Lenght: 50 cm, Head Circumference: 36cm

Age: 2 months & 14 days
Weight: 11 lbs and 9 oz, Lenght: 56 cm, Head Circumference: 39cm

Age: 3 months & 11 days
Weight: 13 lbs and 2 oz, Lenght: 30 cm, Head Circumference: 39cm

Today Saturday will be Xye’s regular visit to his doctor and I’m excited to know his new inch growth. Looking forward...

A Boy Named Xyrus

We’ve prayed and asked our Creator for a child soon after Jessie and I got married in 2008. Two years after, a bouncing baby boy came into our life, we named him Javen Xyrus a.k.a Xye.  He  was born on November 15, 2010, four (4) weeks earlier from my supposedly due, weighing only 4.6lbs, too tiny for a first time mom to hold. He stayed at the Mercy Hospital Nursery for 7 days before bringing him home with us.

He is our Bundle of Joy, our greatest gift from God.

Today 4 months after he was born, I decided to create this blog to purposely share Xye’s journey into the real world. His growing stages, his development and milestones, his character and behavior, his everyday activities and everything in between.

So Gaga In Love

Last week, Girl Talk made us cry through sad songs. Today let's do the opposite by smiling or laughing out loud because of a funny song.

The only song I can remember that made me smile and laugh is the song entitled "You Don't Love Me Anymore" by Weird Al Yankovic. Frankly, I didn't know the singer of this song until now, thanks to GT hehe.

Do you think a Gaga in Love Person like this exist?

Hahaha... Well, maybe...

We've been together for so very long
But now things are changing, oh I wonder what's wrong?
Seems you don't want me around
The passion is gone and the flame's died down

I guess I lost a little bit of self-esteem

That time that you made it with the whole hockey team
You used to think I was nice
Now you tell all your friends that I'm the Antichrist

Oh, why did you disconnect the brakes on my car?

That kind of thing is hard to ignore
Got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore

I knew that we were having problems when

You put those piranhas in my bathtub again
You're still the light of my life
Oh darling, I'm begging
Won't you put down that knife?

You know, I even think it's kinda cute the way

You poison my coffee just a little each day
I still remember the way that you laughed
When you pushed me down the elevator shaft

The man behind the song (information from wikipedia)
Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic (English pronunciation: /ˈjæŋkəvɪk/;[2] born October 23, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter, music producer, actor, comedian, writer, satirist, and parodist. Yankovic is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and that often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts.

A Working Mom Needs a Yaya

After my 60 days maternity leave, I was able to go back to work without worries that nobody will be around to take care of my baby.  We we’re able to hire a Yaya, soon after giving birth. Her job is to look after my son and take care of his needs during the time my husband and I are at work. The rest of the household chores will be done by the other house help.

Lyn, Xye’s Yaya for more than 4 months and she’s the best we ever had, actually we never had one before her. She’s 23 years old, smart and patiently takes care of my son. My fear of her leaving us had become a reality. Today or tomorrow she’ll have to go, get married and will soon take care of her own child.

Two weeks before, after Xye’s baptism she told us that her services will only be until the end of this month. From then, we’ve asked a friend to search for a replacement immediately. Looking for one is not that easy these days. Fortunately, a while ago Hubby called me up and told me that the new Yaya will be coming over.  Thank God we’re able to find a replacement.

Though, another Yaya means another adjustment, I do hope she’ll be as good as Lyn in taking care of Xye and can be instructed and can absorb instructions.
Well, I guess this how it is for a working mom, yaya and house help are already considered as a basic need at home. If only I can give up my work and stay at home for good, but that’s impossible right now because my husband’s income will not suffice our needs and some of our wants.

Anyway I do hope my journey as a Working Mom will be smooth sailing. Even there are few storms along the way I hope and pray that I can overcome it and will eventually be as smooth as before.

Have A Nice Day.

Souvenir Mug

In 2009 I attended the IIEE (Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines), Northern Mindanao Regional Conference held at Zamboanga City. The conference usually charge around P3,000 for registration but in my case I attended the said event for free. Why? Because my office mate who was a Chapter Officer that time asked me to make a layout for the event magazine cover, IDs, tarpaulin and souvenirs. Fortunately the layout came out just the way they wanted although some of the photos used were downloaded from the internet. With that I was able to save P3000.00 and even gained CPE units to be used in the renewal of professional license.

Below is the souvenir mug of the event.
