New Books by Bob Ong

Honestly, I don't read books these days, I'm already too lazy to read one unlike before. Instead, I read subtitles of Korean dramas that I usually watch during free time. lol..

But books written by Bob Ong is another story. Ever since I read Alamat ng Gubat, a book given to me as a birthday gift in 2008, I have started collecting and reading his books. Full of humor, depicts Pilipino life and very amusing that is how I describe it. In fact, I have read his most of his books like, Alamat ng Gubat, ABNKKBSNPLAko, Kapitan Sino, Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas, Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino and MacArthur.

Last week, I bought another books from this best-selling author entitled Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan and Stainless Longanisa.

I wasn't to read it yet. I'll bring along these books with me next week on my trip to Cebu City. I'm sure will be able to read these while waiting for my flight and while on board the aircraft.

Microfiber Towel

Microfiber makes good bath towels for babies and toddlers because they are soft and absorbent. I bought these three microfiber towels for my son at Surplus Shop at P100 ($2.3) each.

It's Never Too Late

After almost then years, my older brother (Weng) had decided to become an Engineer too. Way back on his college days, our mom told him to enroll on engineering course (mom wanted us to take up engineering, our older brother (Manong)  is a Civil Engineer) but he hesitated and took up General Radio Operator Course instead, because he wanted to work right away after two years. Mom had tried hard to convince him but to no avail, she gave up and let him took the course he wanted. And indeed after two years he was able to secure a job in a government agency.

On the year that Weng had his job that was the time too that our parents, decided to retire from their government post and took out all their retirement pay and invested on business. But unfortunately the business had failed. I was taking up BSEE that time and still on my second year. My parents cannot send me to school anymore. I’m still lucky that both my older brothers, Manong and Weng already had jobs. They were able to help me finish my studies.  After graduation I had to review and take the board exam but Manong had problems with his with wife and wasn’t able to help with my finances anymore. It was Weng who supported all the way until I took my board exam. God has always been with us because I was able to pass the licensure exam.

Time flies, now it is my turn to help my brother Weng to finish up BSECE. His wife’s and his salary are not enough to shoulder their expenses especially now that they already have 3 children. He wanted a bachelor’s degree so that he can secure a better position in their office.

Age does not matter if you want something to achieve. My brother is already 35 years old, and it’s never too late to pursue his studies and by God's grace he’ll be graduating next year.

By the way, he requested for a new calculator because the one he’d been using is already damaged. I got this scientific calculator for him and will be sending it this week.

What's Inside my Bag?

I was so excited to write my entry for this week's BC Blogger Meme yesterday because I'm back in my normal everyday routine. Yep! My 60 days leave is over and yesterday August 22, 2012 was my first at work after a very long vacation. But sad to say, my post came out late because my first day at work was a very very busy day and I'm dead tired last night.

Anyway, I'm here now writing this post while on lunch break.

Let's start checking out What's Inside My Bag?

5 Money Saving Tips

This week BC Blogger Meme is hosted by Mommy Chin-Chin of Stay atHome Blessings, and it is all about ways in saving money.

For us, we always make sure that our expenditures should not be more than our income.  Here are some ways that we practice at home.

List Down Your Shopping Needs.  I always ask our helper to list down our grocery needs, since they do all the cooking, laundry, etc. they know which items were already used up.  But lately, my husband or I re-check the list before going to the grocery. Minsan sobra-sobra ang nakalista.

Visit the Groceries' Great Value Section. Whenever we do our groceries we always check out the Great Value Section because you’ll find your needs here with discounts or with additional free items. Just like this diaper and fabric conditioner.

Buy items in bigger sizes. We usually buy items that will be used up easily in bigger sizes like, milk, shampoo, cooking oil, etc…

Pay Bills On Time. We make sure to pay all our bills on time to avoid penalty or arrears. Hubby usually pays our house rental (thru bank deposit) and water consumption (at the Waterworks Office). While the electric, cable and internet bills are my share because I can easily pay them at Savemore Kauswagan after office hours.

Shop During Mall Sale. Now that we have paid off all our monthly bills and amortizations, and had set aside portions for our savings. It’s time to shop our wants using extra cash. And I usually do that during Mall Sale. This weekend will be “3-Day Sale” at SM CDO. I have to check out the store for discounted feeding bottle nipples from Avent for my son and that Casio calculator that my brother is asking.
These are our money saving tips. There are times I become an impulsive buyer too, that is why I refrain from visiting malls and department stores or else I end up buying anything that I don’t need.
We would like to hear from you too. Join the fun by signing up with BC Blogger.

PRC ID: Renewed

Last week hubby and I received a registered mail from Professional Regulation Commission thru Postal Office informing us that our PRC IDs are ready for release, four months after we had it renewed.

We went to PRC first hour the following day to claim it. We always do our transactions at PRC as early as possible to avoid overcrowding.  The photo above is their releasing counter.

Meet and Greet with Our Friends

Two weeks ago we went to Iligan City for my dental appointment, my braces needed adjustments after 3 months.

Hubby and I decided to stay overnight so that we'll be able to meet and greet with our friends.

We've talked for long hours at Paengs then later transferred to Kyla's. As usual we had a lot of fun eating, drinking talking and laughing. I really missed the old days in Iligan City, I missed having friends because we don't have friends yet here in Cagayan de Oro City.  :(

Anyway, from now on (since I'm fit to travel again) every month I had to return to Iligan City for my regular dental appointment, it's a very tiring and costly for my part, but I have no choice because my dentist is there.  Bur at least every month I also got a chance to see my friends there.

I'll Drive Dad

On July 26, 2012, we've brought our little guy for an immunization. This time he had the 3rd dose of influenza vaccine which is now be given 1 dose per year. While waiting for his new pediatrician to arrive, we've waited at the parking lot of the hospital because it was more comfortable than in the waiting area with no aircon or electric fan at all.

Xye had a great time, playing the little driver as if telling his father that he'll be the one to drive next time.

As usual, mom (that's me) played the

Movie Date: Dark Knight Rises

The last time we went on a movie date was way back before our son was born, 2 years ago I guess can't really remember the exact date.
But last Saturday, hubby thought of watching The Dark Knight Rises, I agreed and had a movie date together. I wanted to watch it at SM or Lim Ket Kai but since it's already late afternoon and we're still at Gaisano Mall we settled watching the movie there instead.

outside the cinema

The tickets has P70.00 tag but we actually paid P100.00

I'm not really a fan of Batman, it took time before the storyline had sinked into my head. That is also because  the show was already half-way when we entered the movie theater.

photo from

Anyway, the movie is quite good for me, although Batman had been severely beaten. I'll be looking forward for the role of the policeman who resigned from his post and went into Batman's secret quarter. Will he be Robin or the new Batman, let's wait and see.

Shorts and Shirt From Moose Gear

One of my favorite children's clothing are those from Moose Gear. Last Friday I bought a checkered shorts and a t-shirt for Xye. I did not intend to shop for clothes but since it was on sale (50% off) I bought a pair using my remaining sodexho gift certificates at SM Cagayan de Oro.

Xye's New Trike

Hubby and I are afraid that the trike we have borrowed from his sister will be damaged after continuous trekking outside our house. We decided to buy Xye his own trike.

We wanted to buy him a battery operated bicycle but it's too expensive, we don't have the budget yet. So we settle with this spiderman trike with price tag of P 1500.00.

We also chose the one with handle bar so that it will be easy for us to push him around. He still can't reach the pedal yet, so be he'll joy riding for now.

40 Days After

On August 1, 2012 hubby and I offered a mass for our little angel who was taken from us 40 days ago. She's our second bundle of joy, our second greatest gift from God but after 32 weeks in my womb she lost her life. Our precious baby girl was chosen by our Almighty Creator to be His angel before she was even been born. A very painful experience for me and my husband, but no matter how hard to accept, we had too and had accepted it because God has His reasons why He had taken away what He had given.

Instead of holding her in our arms and watch her grow, we'll be visiting her grave from time to time and say our greetings and her how much we love her. And forever she will be in our hearts.
