Health Benefits of Apricot

Apricots are small orange golden fruit, with velvety skin and flesh, though they are not too juicy but these fruits are definitely smooth and sweet. Honestly, I have never seen a fresh apricot fruit but I have tried a preserved one made into a jam.

Do you know that this golden orange fruit that is relative to peaches has a lot of health benefits? Here are some that I have read;

Vitamin A – Apricots are good source of Vitamin A. And taking in vitamin A helps promote healthy vision and reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C are well known in boosting the immune system. Apricots are rich in vitamin C and therefore are good food in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. It reduces LDL also known as bad cholesterol, thus reduces also the risk of heart attack and improves heart health.

Anti-oxidant - Apricots are powerful antioxidants and are therefore effective in reducing the risk of many cancers, heart diseases and improves skin health.

Rich in Dietary Fiber – If you are planning to lose weight, apricots can help because aside from they are high in fiber they are also low in calories.

Apricots can be consumed in fresh or dried form and both are equally beneficial. I hope to see apricots in the supermarket because the moment I saw them I’ll definite grab some, and even try the bitter raw apricot kernels.
