Starbucks City Mug: Atlanta

In my last post I wrote about our very good friend who is already a US resident who came to visit us after more than 6 years.

I did not expect for any pasalubong from her, because the reason she came home was due to family emergency. But to my surprise, she was able to pack my requested mug which according to her was bought in 2011 (I checked the mug edition, and it is indeed copyrighted in 2011). A new addition to my Starbucks Mug collection is a city mug from Atlanta. Yippeee!

And aside from the mug, Kat also gave me 2 pouches of chocolates. Wheeee! Thanks so much Kat! :) happy face! I hope you had a nice trip back to US after all the delays. God Bless BFF!

Reunion After More than 6 Years

We were strangers before and became friends sometimes in 2003 when badminton was a craze. Badminton brought us together, formed a group of young professionals all crazy about the game then started to hang out inside and outside the court. The originals include Jessie, Joven, Abel, Joel, Kathy, Nice and myself.

In 2006 Kathy, left for US to be with his husband who works there then a year later Abel also left for US.

Over the years each one of us had chosen our own life path. Jessie and I migrated to nearby city. Joel also is staying here in CDO while Nice and Joven remain in Iligan City.  But after all these years we still are friends and had made sure to see each other when one is in town.

Two weeks ago, Kathy came home because of family emergency, after she had settled her purpose, she did found time to visit us here in Cagayan de Oro City.

Kathy, Nice and Joven came on May 18 and stayed at our humble home because we wanted to spend more time chatting.

Joel also came on Saturday morning with his wife and nephews. We've waited for them at home before going out for lunch.

Later, we had a sumptuous lunch at Hukad, Centrio Mall.

Then had coffee at Starbucks.

As you can see in the pictures, we had 4 dozens of J.Co. Yep! we've finally able to get the famous donut in town because Kathy was patient enough to fall in line. Lol...

The day ended with some wacky shots outside our home before they headed back to Iligan City.

A reunion after 6.5 years apart with Kathy was one memorable moment for us. Eventhough we only bonded less than 24 hours because she had to spend the rest of her vacation with her mom, we still had a great time together.

Tomorrow, Kath will fly back to US. Have a safe trip back to your family. We hope next time you and Abel will be coming home together for a grand reunion. hehehe

By the way this photo was taken sometime in 2006. Can you spot the difference from the rest of the photos posted above?

Healthy Basics that should be in your Handbag

Admit it! We ladies have a lot of unnecessary things in our handbags and usually forgot to pack along basics that are needed for the good of our health.

1. Hand Sanitizer or Alcohol

Without realizing it, we always come into contact with bacteria. Holding coins or bills is as dirty as public toilets, or simply opening/holding door knobs make us definitely come in contact with hundreds of bacteria. Hence, it is important to bring along hand sanitizer to cleanse our hands, especially before handling foods.

2. Medications

Be prepared to whatever unexpected medical condition outside our home. Always bring along medications that you are maintaining or even over the counter fever and allergy medicines and painkillers. It’s important to be prepared always.

3. Water

Drinking water is one fuel that we need to power up our day. It is important to drink enough fluid to keep our organs healthy, increase our energy levels, detoxify our body, improve digestion and reduce hunger. Always keep a bottle of water in your hand bag to stay hydrated throughout the day.

4. Nutritious Snacks

We sometimes tend to be hungry and crave for something like junk foods. To help us get through our day without getting our hands with unhealthy foods, it is important to pack along healthy snacks like dried fruits, unsalted nuts, and low calorie crackers.

5. Sunscreen Lotion

Overexposure to sun may cause skin ageing and skin cancer. Only few women and men use sunscreen protection just like myself. To prevent our skin from these unlikely diseases it is important to keep at least an SPF 15 sun protection in our hand bag and reapply sometime in the day when exposed to sun for a longer periods.

It’s time to dig out and get rid of the unneccessary things that are considered trash in our handbags like old tickets, old unreadable receipts, etc. and replace them with the 5 necessary healthy essentials mentioned above.

J.Co to Bread Talk

Last Saturday, hubby went with me at the clinic for a check-up. I had ultrasound and was confirmed that there really is a life inside me. I already saw a pumping heart inside my tummy at 7 weeks gestation. Another miracle of life, another blessing that we're praying for is already here.  Thank you so much Lord. I'm nervous and afraid that there'll be complications but I trust You and my doctor that everything will be alright this time.

Anyway, after the check up hubby and I went to Centrio Ayala Mall because I heard J.Co is already in town. I want to try their donuts but unfortunately we don't have much time to join the long line of waiting customers.

So instead of bringing home a box of J.Co. we ended up buying some expensive breads from Bread Talk. Actually it was also our first time to visit the sosyal na bakery at Centrio. (so medyo okey lang for us to slash P200 of our budget para hindi naman maging ignorante kung anong lasa ng dollar na breads na yan hehehe)

Next time, if I get a chance to visit Centrio Ayala Mall, I'll make sure to get a box of J.Co. donuts. :-)

A Celebration of Love, Happy Mother's Day

"A Mother's love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible."

Today is a celebration of love, a love for all the mothers in the world. Although there is no big celebration for us today because hubby has to work, it is still a blessing for me because I'm spending the day with my one and only Xyrus my first born, my first bundle of joy.

Although he's a little developmentally delayed for his age and is on going occupational therapy he is always the best thing that ever happen to us. We're hoping and doing our best to optimize his future potential for him to have a better life. After all, that's what parents are to their children, that's what a mother is to her child doing everything they can, making the impossible possible.

And also this year's Mother's Day is also a very blessed one because by the end to the year we are expecting another addition to our family. Yep! God is giving me another chance to become a mother to another child after I lost our angel girl last year.

And hope this time, everything will be alright, healthy and no complications. I'm doing all the best I can do to take care of the life I have inside me and looking forward to hold him or her by Christmas Day.

Happy Mother's Day to All the Mothers in the World
Especially to my Mom who is already with our Almighty Father but still remains in our hearts.

5 Ways to Make Your Day Better

Having a bad and stressful day? Here are 5 ways that can help you kick out the negative vibes;

Wake Up Early

Do you notice that everything seems to go wrong when you’re on a rush? These usually happen when you wake up late. Why not set up your alarm earlier than usual, that way you’ll be able prepare yourself for work or school with calm and leisure pace.

Sweat it Out

Can sweat slash off your bad day? Seems a little weird huh, but try doing some form of physical activities like running, walking, or just dancing around the house and feel the sweat flowing - you’ll be feeling a boost of positivity before you even know it. I remember my friend told me that when he runs he feels like all the stress and negative vibes just disappear, and he feels renewed even after a short distance run.

De-clutter

Whether it’s your whole house, your kitchen, your room or just your desk, take time to clear out the mess and put all things you see in order and you’ll feel a sense of satisfaction when you see your space clean and bright. Because a cluttered space leads to a cluttered mind, so let’s all make it a mission to tidy things up that way not only our spaces are clean but as well as our mind.

Have a Quite Time

When you’re having a bad day and wanted to bark on someone at any moment, why not take a little time off. Take out yourself from the crowd and have a few deep breaths in an open space and just feel the surrounding. The time you spent away can calm you down a lot, and make you less likely yell to anyone.

Laugh Out Loud

If you don’t want to spend time alone and is really having a bad day, you can simply laugh your frustrations out loud. Why not invite your good friend that never fails to make you laugh for a lunch date or simply watch a hilarious video. When you laugh you will feel the negative vibes disperse. After all laughter is always the best medicine for a very bad day.

So when you are having a stressful just do any of the above. I tried them and it’s effective. :-)

Toy Story Monday: Guitar From Cebu City

I was at Mactan Airport Cebu on Wednesday May 1, 2013. While waiting for our flight home, I saw colorful guitars hanging in one of the shops at the airport. I remember my nephew having a plastic guitar back home and my son usually plays with it when we visit them. Without second thought, I decided to get one for Xye.

Xye was so happy when he saw me holding and strumming the guitar towards him when I arrived home that night. Eventhough he doesn't know how to play with some of his toys yet, I'm glad he can sometimes strum the strings of his new wooden guitar one by one.

Happy 5th Year Anniversary

May 3, 2008 Jes & I bid our goodbyes to our 7 year relationship as boyfriend-girlfriend and welcome our new life as husband and wife. Five (5) years passed I must say our relationship is getting stronger and stronger. I always thank God that in our 12 years together we never had a major fight that challenged our relationship.

That is because of the trust and respect + love and faith with each other that keep us stronger all through these years. I"m so blessed having a person like Jessie who is forever my partner, my husband, my son's father, my best friend, my confidante, my soulmate.

Happy Wedding Anniversary My Love!

WE love you so much.
