Power Up with Powerbank

Almost all people from all walks of life already have mobile phones these days, from simple talk and text function only to sophisticated smartphones, everyone cannot go out without one in hand. Like in my case I carry with me two android phones, one carrying my unlimited call sim, while the other is with my first and oldest pre-paid sim. Because these gadgets are so important to me, I see to it that I always carry with me my battery charger. But unfortunately, plug on chargers are useless if there are no live outlets or electricity in the area you are at.

I was eyeing to get myself a portable power bank that I can carry with me all the time. Luck strikes, I got one as a gift, a late Christmas gift from our partner company. I do not how I end up as one of the lucky recipients because our group never received one from them eversince. But no matter what I’m very thankful, because this time I don’t need to buy one for myself.

Stripped with Strip It

I read about Strip It months ago from one of the blogs I frequently visit.  I’m dying to try the product right away because accordingly it is very effective but too bad I was so busy and wasn’t able to spend even few minutes to place my order.

The black grasses under my arm were growing healthily that plucking will take me a lot of time, time that I don’t have that much these days. And I say no-no to razors because it usually hurt the skin. Then Strip It came into my mind once again, this time I searched for them on Facebook, placed my order, paid thru Gcash then two days later it landed at our doorstep.

“STRIP IT sugaring removes hair from the roots (epilating), thus hair is unseen from 2-4 weeks. With continued use, hair becomes sparser, softer, and finer. That is why it's preferable to shaving or using depilating. Since sugaring adheres tightly to the hair but not the skin as, so there is 50% less pain & discomfort than with other waxes.

Strip It will give you a clear, smooth & light skin. It also exfoliates by stripping off dead skin. It is laced with moisturizer making the skin soft. And the Calamansi lightens the skin!

Strip It is an all natural , water-soluble, and hypoallergenic COLD sugar wax. NO HEATING is required. Get the great benefits of waxing while saving time and money!”

I can’t wait to use it!

When I arrived home last Friday, I saw the package sitting on my table, hurriedly open it and read the instruction. Though I want to apply it right away but had to wait after dinner when the kids were asleep (para walang distorbo, while doing the ritual).

I read the instruction few times, before actually applying it. I asked hubby to open the container for me, the wax may have stuck on the cover because of the shipment, making it too hard to open.

Using the spatula (big popsicle stick) I applied the wax on my underarm. Before doing so I had my under arm washed first with soap to remove the deodorant residues. The wax application was a little bit hard to manage since the wax is so sticky and messy. Nevertheless, I was able to apply them on the desired area.

After the not evenly application of the wax, I placed the cloth over it, pressed and massaged for few seconds then quickly pulled the cloth. I took a deep breath and held it before doing so (hehehe parang takot-takot sa sakit), but surprisingly is was not that painful after all.

from the right armpit
And surprisingly again! The hairs were off from the roots.  Can you see the hairs in the photo?
from the left armpit
Sorry I did not photographed my armpit, it looks more yikes! Than the photos above...

Though there were few hairs that were not removed because they were too short, still I’m so contented with the result. It’s better to pluck few residual hairs than plucking the whole batch.

With total of P400.00 (350g Strip It Sugaring Kit (P295), added extra cloth pack (P15) + P90 shipping fee), I can use the product again and again. Meaning I can save more than going to spa all the time for underarm waxing that cost around P200.

I must say! Strip It! is one amazing product! Check it out at their FB page for more info.

Eat All You Can Lunch with Officemates

It's our birthday month! Three of us in our group (division) were born on the first month of the year, and as an office rule, we have to treat the whole group either lunch or snacks. Our division consist of 17 regular employees + 3 outsource employees which makes us a total of 20.

If the previous years we had snacks as our treat (so that not only our division can enjoy the feast but as well as other groups under our department), this time we decided to go out for lunch last Wednesday. An eat-all-you-can buffet at Gaisano Mall. With only 16 people around (the boss was on travel, 2 others on leave and 1 who is a JW who don't celebrate birthday) we've spent only P3520.00.

Because we did not spend that much and still had extra cash, later that day we still had bread and ice cream feast at the office.

Mr. Sun, Please Come Out and Shine

Mr. Sun was finally peeping against the thick gray clouds this morning. I hope and pray he will really come out and shine brightly today. Two weeks of gloomy weather, on and off rain is too much. Muddy water flooding the streets, some rivers had overflowed and yet we have to go to work because there was no typhoon signal imposed in our area. Agaton from LPA to Typhoon to LPA again was bringing only rain at a very slow moving pace.

I hope he is already out of our area because we are running out of clothes to wear especially our baby's clothes, bibs, and blankets. Our 3 year old spin dryer and washing machine had broke down and my jack of all trade husband is trying his best to repair it.

Anyway, let's continue the day with hope and smiles on our faces because as of now I can see a much clearer surrounding.

Back to Work + Baby Jewel at 2

We have gloomy sky and moderate to heavy rains for the past four (4) days, and its freezing cold inside the office. Yep! I’m back to the corporate world since January 10. My 60 days maternity leave is over and time for me to re-load and get back to the real world.

One of my plans in 2014 is to regularly update my blog, unfortunately on the first few days of the 1st month of the year I was idle, because of work and mother duties.
The moment I sat on my desk on my first day of work, a Memo Order was sent to me as one of the team member to conduct studies and design on the system upgrade project in our office. I attended seminar/workshop since Monday until this morning. I was hoping to update my blog during lunch time but was not able to, and was too tired to update at night as well. I had to reserve the rest of my energy to play and look after my kids.

Anyway, before I get back to work (because it is almost 1PM), I just want to share to you a mother and baby photo.

Our baby girl is already 2 months old on January 10, 2014. I bought a cake + 2 candles a day before and took photo early in the morning after her bath and before I went to work. Time flies fast, and day by day our baby girl is getting bigger, heavier and prettier like mom. hehehe

52 Week Money Saving Challenge

One of my goals this year is to spend less and save more. I'm planning to set aside specific amount every pay day, i.e. transferring the fund from our payroll account to our personal saving account using the internet banking facility of the bank. Aside from that I want to save as well offline, by dropping some amount in a piggy bank like thing then counting them at the end of the year.

Then, I came across the 52 Week Money Saving Challenge in Pinterest, the idea hits me. Instead of putting non-specific amount into my piggy bank,  I rather try the challenge. That way I'm certain how much I have saved by the end of the year.

The original challenge is to start from a $1 dollar on the first week $2 on the next and so on until you reach the 52 week and eventually drop $52 which totals to $1,378.00 of savings.

If to convert the amount above into Philippine Pesos it will be approximately P59,254.00. Saving that much is so awesome I can really buy a lot of things with that amount. But setting aside bigger amount on the later weeks will be very heavy for me. So instead, I made a template with P10.00 increment that will let me save about P13,780.00 by the end of the year.

Here it is, like the photo above I made used of a transparent plastic container. A recycled 450g peanut butter jar.

Since we don't have printer at home, I asked hubby to print the template for me that will fit the jar's body. If you'll notice the title of the template, hubby didn't write down my instruction, that's why. Anyway, the idea is still the same.

I wonder what I'm going to buy at the end of the year with my saved up amount. Hmmmm, let's see if it is going to be a material  thing or will be deposited or invested.

How about you? Are you ready to take the same challenge?

Plans and Wishes for 2014

A late Welcome 2014! Because it is already the 5th day of January 2014. I'm too busy lately and wasn't able to do this welcome post. (Actually I did my Thankful 2013 post late also... hehehe busy nga!)

Anyway, I've listed hings that I wanted to do this year. Here they are;

Lose Weight

I'm sure people who are overweight wants to lose pounds every new year, their resolution, but usually end up not really doing it. This year, I'll be joining the caravan and vows to reduce these excessive pounds and body fats. I'll be cutting off my usual over-eating and go on a diet + exercise. I'm hopeful and determined to lose them for a sexier and healthy lifestyle.

Save and Invest

Hubby and I have already put up little savings in the bank, I already opened a Junior Saving account for my boy and will be opening another one for our girl soon, but our savings are deteriorating each day because of emergency expenses. This year, I'll make sure to regularly stash amount for our emergency fund/saving from our monthly pay, minimize shopping and prioritize only the needs and set aside the wants.

I've been hearing about investing in stocks, it interest me a lot and really want to try it too, but until now I wasn't able. :-( This year I'll do my best to read more and learn about stocks and look for an online broker.

Continue Jewelry Handcrafting

My handcrafted jewelries that I've been creating over the years had given extra income not only to my family but as well as to my brother's family. My sister-in-law does the selling, I usually provide her my price and it's up to her on how she'll make profit from it. So far we are doing good and hope this year I'll be diligent enough to finish the orders on time.

Regularly Update My Blogs

Even with my day job to give importance to, 2 children and a husband to prioritize, handcrafting sideline to create, I'll ensure that my blogging will not be compromised. I'll try my best to update my blogs regularly, especially now that I have a new point and shoot camera to take photos for my blogs, and is already getting opportunities from time to time. Who nows I'll get more moolahs this year and will be able to get my wants, our wants soon.

Sewing Machine

Last December the sewing machine that I've been wanting to get had a discount of P2,000. I already set aside the profit I had from my the handmade jewelries for the that purpose. But on the last day of the promo period, and was on the way to the mall, I changed my mind and decided not to buy it. Considering it's usage, I realized I don't need it yet and I don't have extra time to learn how to sew. I think if I have a more precise project and determination to learn plus the time I'll get the sewing machine this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 or Note III

Gadgets made it's way to my wishlist again. Last year, I wished to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab but wasn't able to, because of budget constraint. Instead, my husband bought a Cherry Fusion Bolt Tablet for my son. The cherry tab doesn't satisfy my techie wants because I wanted something else, I want a high-end gadget for myself. This year if lucky enough to have an extra cash coming from my handcraft sideline or from blogging I might be able to get a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 or a Samsung Galaxy Note III Smartphone.

And lastly, my greatest wish, as well as hubby's is to start building our own home. Until now we still can't apply for a housing loan because of the "transfer of land title" problem. I pray that the previous land owner will do their part, so that we can move on with the processing. On the other hand we are hoping to sell the corner lot we have at a subdivision here in CDO and use the money to finance our house building project.

These are the plans and wishes that I can think of while writing this post, I just hope that some of them will be realized this year.

Thankful 2013

Year 2013 was full of ups and downs for me and my family. We started the year not favorably because my father in law had a stroke and died a month after. My mother in law had undergone chemotherapy and operation to remove the mass on her breast. These were the heavy downs we had last year not only emotionally but financially as well. But in spite of those we have managed to carry on, because of the gifts and blessings that we are thankful for.

A Bundle of Joy

God gave us another bundle of joy this year, a baby girl that my hubby and I were praying for. Although it was not a smooth sailing journey because of a very high risk pregnancy, still God is so good for protecting me and my baby. Baby Jewel is now 1 month and 23 days old and is getting heavier and bigger each day.

We're happy to have an addition in the family. We are now a family of five.

Corporate Job

I'm always thankful to be part of one of the biggest corporation in the country. The pay my husband and I get from them really sustained our needs.

Aside from the monthly salary we always received bonuses, grocery items and gifts during Christmas. With the extra cash we received last month we're able to buy a Samsung Smart TV for the whole family to enjoy.

Extra Income from Handmade Jewelries

I've been creating and selling handmade jewelries for years already. Usually my customers are the public school teachers from my hometown. My sister in law does the selling (pa-utang na rin) to her co-teachers while I personally do the items. Though my earnings are not much that can finance our household at least I earn a bit to fund my wants.

The Creativity
Our baby girl inspired me to do another craft.  With her in hand, I was able to unlock another creativity that I do not know I have in me. I learned how to crochet and make baby accessories. Though I'm not that expert yet but at least I'm doing good for a beginner. winks :-)

Loving Blogging

Creating a blog is not difficult but maintaining and monetizing it is not an easy task. I put up my blogs with purpose to improve my English writing skills. I may be good in mathematics but I'm totally poor when it comes to English. I envy bloggers who are so good in writing and actually monetizing their blogs. I wished I can do that too...

I joined several paying sites but I only got few opportunities. Part of the reasons maybe is that, I'm too lazy to bid. Luckily in 2013, this blog was accepted in another paying site and got opportunities from time to time. Though the pay is not that high but at least I received something. After 4 years I finally was able to withdraw my paypal earnings and bought myself a Samsung Smart Camera, a point and shoot camera that I can carry at all time.

Healthy Family

Unlike in 2012, 2013 gave us good health. No serious illness and diseases just the common cough and colds. Also, with the continuous occupational therapy my son is already improving. I hope soon he'll be able to do what normal children can and probably learn to talk in due time.

2013 allowed me and my family to experience many things, some were bad and hurtful but in spite of those we're able to surpass and see the light at the end. God may have given us trials but on the lighter side He gave us overflowing blessings.

So long 2013... Watch out 2014! because I together with my family are so ready to face you...
