52 Week Money Saving Challenge

One of my goals this year is to spend less and save more. I'm planning to set aside specific amount every pay day, i.e. transferring the fund from our payroll account to our personal saving account using the internet banking facility of the bank. Aside from that I want to save as well offline, by dropping some amount in a piggy bank like thing then counting them at the end of the year.

Then, I came across the 52 Week Money Saving Challenge in Pinterest, the idea hits me. Instead of putting non-specific amount into my piggy bank,  I rather try the challenge. That way I'm certain how much I have saved by the end of the year.

The original challenge is to start from a $1 dollar on the first week $2 on the next and so on until you reach the 52 week and eventually drop $52 which totals to $1,378.00 of savings.

If to convert the amount above into Philippine Pesos it will be approximately P59,254.00. Saving that much is so awesome I can really buy a lot of things with that amount. But setting aside bigger amount on the later weeks will be very heavy for me. So instead, I made a template with P10.00 increment that will let me save about P13,780.00 by the end of the year.

Here it is, like the photo above I made used of a transparent plastic container. A recycled 450g peanut butter jar.

Since we don't have printer at home, I asked hubby to print the template for me that will fit the jar's body. If you'll notice the title of the template, hubby didn't write down my instruction, that's why. Anyway, the idea is still the same.

I wonder what I'm going to buy at the end of the year with my saved up amount. Hmmmm, let's see if it is going to be a material  thing or will be deposited or invested.

How about you? Are you ready to take the same challenge?
