12 Dishes on My Birthday

Nothing is more special than celebrating your special day with the ones you love, in my case my husband and two kids and our only immediate relative nearby hubby’s elder sister and her family are already enough. The bonus part is having our friends who we seldom see made the effort and drove almost two hours to get here.

My birthday falls on a Sunday, and a supposedly rest day for me, because my regular work is only from Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM but it turned out I have to be at the office for an overtime work. My colleague was out town and cannot cover the work for me, I have no choice but to go to the office and do the tasks. By noon break, I hurriedly went home, my guests were already there waiting for the celebrant.

Birthday Treat from the January Birthday Celebrants!

On January 19, 2015, the four of the many birthday celebrants for the month of January in our department came together (including myself) and celebrated their birthdays in a form of simple snacks for everybody present. Each of us contributed P1000.00 and bought the following snacks for everyone to enjoy.  We had tabirak (ginataan), bread, torta, biko, puto, cakes and softdrinks.

Simple celebrations like this are a great avenue to leave our working space and get together in the conference room for chatting and enjoyment, plus filling up the hungry stomachs.

To all the January Birthday Celebrants, Happy Birthday! May our Year be filled with blessings and joy in our hearts.

Next stop is my birthday celebration with friends. Stay tuned…

My 25 Things to Do in 2015

Goodbye 2014! Hello 2015!

Am I ready to face you? I think I am.. I am very ready to face whatever challenges life will bring me and my family, because I know that God will always be there for us.

As we start our new year, I am writing another list of my personal plans and goals for 2015. If you have read my last year goals, a reader commented recently that I fail to include God in my plans and goals, that I should be put God first. Though, I failed to write them in words I know that I am putting God first before anything. But still thank you for reminding me.
1. Keep Faith. Pray More. This year, I am really putting God on top my list. I may not be a very religious type of person, I honestly haven’t read the Bible from cover to cover, but I know deep inside that I love Him and my faith in Him is very strong. Prayer is our greatest connection to God. No matter how busy life will lead me, I’ll see to it to give even a few minutes of intimate prayer to thank God for all the blessings and graces He has showered us. And also to ask him earnestly what I really want because God will not grant your prayer if you will not ask. That is why I’m praying and asking God to help my son recover from ASD, to grant him the ability of speech and to make him highly functional.

2. Lose Weight and Stay Healthy. The result of the APE is not out yet and, I’m very sure that I have “high” results in my blood test. Thus, this year I am re-listing the goal of “Losing Weight” again and this time with the “Stay Healthy” factor. I have motivation this year because of the challenge my friend Nyc and I made. What is the challenge? You’ll find out after six months.

2014 December 35 Blessings and Graces

Before I’ll make plans for the new year 2015, I would like to look back the blessings and graces we had received in December, the last month of 2014. God is always generous to us and I am always thankful for all blessing we have received and for Him to be always present in our lives.

As the saying goes “Count Your Blessings” and I’m counting all the blessings we had in December, whether big or small, and I’m so happy to share them with you.

1. Pasalubong. Hubby's brother came home and gave us a mug he bought from Sweden, chocolates, candies and coffees. These are items he bought from some of the port/cities the ship his in docked.

2. Chocolates. Two of our colleagues came back from their foreign travel and gave us (ladies) chocolates.

3. Chopsticks. Another colleague came back from Beijing, China brought us chopsticks as pasalubong.

4. Headband. A friend from head office sent a Lalaloopsy headband for my little girl.

5. APE. Had our annual physical examination and is waiting for the result to come out maybe early this year.

6. Free Food. One of the accredited caterers, went to the office and treat us free snacks.

7. Jewelry Set. Early this month a college friend asked me to make a complete jewelry set for her. And glad see liked it!

8. Tupperware Direct Selling. Because I usually purchased the baby shampoo and cologne for the kids from Tupperware, might as well register and become a member. Sayang ang discount. :-)

9. Christmas Wreath. I wanted a Christmas wreath but find it expensive, instead I made my own using plastic storage bag.
