January 25th, Another Year Older

January 25th, an amazing day to start my special day.

Hubby drove me to the office, and our son and his Ate to the school on a very early Monday morning. I have to work even on this day because there is no such thing as birthday leave in our company, only vacation leave. Though I can apply for a vacation leave I chose not, there are a lot of work that needs to be done.

See those clouds in perfect ripple formation? Looks like God sent them to welcome a new year, a new day in my life, because it’s my birthday! Thank you Lord for a wonderful morning!

My Memories of 2015

Before the month of January 2016 comes to an end, let me recap the highlights of my life, our lives in the year 2015.

Some were written and published on my blogs some were not, some were exciting, some were boring, but nevertheless, I had a wonderful year with my family, with my friends, with my colleagues, with the Lord.

Tennis Injury: Calf Muscle Tear

One of my “must do” to achieve the goal I have set for myself this year the “BETTER ME” goal, is to make myself healthy by engaging in sports, exercise and diet.  I also downloaded the 30 Day ABS Challenge work out and actually started it on January 3, 2016.

On January 4th, after our first day of work my friend and officemate decided to play tennis. I’ve been playing tennis for over 6 months now, I am not that good, but at least I can already hit the ball, much better now compared to when I started. So we started our game, a double match with Ann my partner, against two men.

Blame it to my instinct, I will really run for the ball as much as I can. And because of that, Pop! I heard something popped in the calf muscle area. Seconds later, the pain started which I thought was only a cramp. Of course, I wasn’t able to finish the game, rested for a while and called my husband who’s still at home getting ready for work to pick me up, I couldn’t drive anymore.

The next day, I applied for a sick leave, I can’t walk properly because of the pain. After husband had arrived from work, we went to the hospital for a check-up. Based on my story and how my leg looked like, and where the pain is located. The orthopedic surgeon diagnosed it as a “tear of the musculotendinous junction of gastrocnemius” or calf muscle tear. According to him, there is no need for an operation, because the tear will heal itself, though, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover.

I even brought with me an icebox with ice cubes for my cold compress at work.

New Year 2016: A Better Me

While mostly have already written their goals and resolution for the New Year 2016, I am here, still contemplating about the goals I made last year, and what are those that I am planning to do this year.

I admit my 2015, is a year where I felt I am one of the exhausted persons on earth, exhausted in the sense that juggling between work and other activities was really tough. Thus, most of the listed plans I made during the beginning of the year were not realized.

I don’t want to go on the same episodes again, and become a person who doesn’t stick to the plan. Honestly speaking, even though I work as a planning engineer, I am not a good planner when it comes to life itself, I rather go with the flow and enjoy life at present.

But there is one goal I want to achieve this year for myself is to be a BETTER ME.

I don’t need to compare myself to others because each of us has our own fate, instead, I’ll look back and compare what I am yesterday, today and improve myself tomorrow. I want to be a better person, than I am now.

To the people who will be able to read this post, join me in this goal. Let’s make ourselves BETTER this year and the years to come.

Happy New Year 2016!

New Year 2016, New Injury

It’s a Happy New Year 2016!

This is quite a 4-day delayed post. I don’t have an excuse for slacking during the first 3 days of the year, though I was able to update my 2 other blogs until last night wherein I became a slow moving lady. Blame it to my carelessness, I ended up with stiff and painful muscles in my right leg due to the cramps I had last night. My 1st day back to fitness by playing tennis with my officemates was just unfortunate. Hah! This is what I got for playing without proper stretching and warm-up. Until now I am still in a slow-mo mode, but I had to try my best to move it and later on go to the hospital for a checkup.

After having our kids, this has been our 1st New Year Celebration with just hubby and I and the two kids. Our two house employees went home to their own family. We didn’t prepare that much, it was a simple media noche that we can think of. An oven roasted lechon belly, the Purefoods Fiesta Ham that the office gave us, shrimp with chili sauce, buko fruit salad, the experimental leche flan made in a rush, the biscuit chocolate balls I made a few days back and the 12 different kinds of fruits. I only arranged it in a way pleasing to look at in person and in picture.

Thirty minutes before the 12mn, with the table already set hubby and I woke up the two kids, which obviously took 15-20 minutes before they actually stood up and agreed to be taken outside the room. 10 minutes before midnight the sky was already festive with the different fireworks display. The four of us, watch merrily while our neighbors lit and released their fireworks. Cool! The boggacious New Year we had so far in the city, considering how our neighbors spent for the fireworks. As for us, we’re just contented watching.

Fifteen minutes after midnight, we went in the house and took our first family picture of the year. Taking decent pictures with the kids is not easy. So when these pictures came out, I was so happy because it was yet the best pictures we had. Thanks to the tripod, the camera timer, and the tab with “pink fong” kid songs playing. J Problem solved!

We had our first meal of the year together, cleaned up and then went to bed at 2:00AM. It was indeed a very Happy New Year welcome for us!

I pray for an exciting year, with more blessings and graces from the Lord.

Cheers to 2016!
